Trump To Host Kennedy Center Honors — Sylvester Stallone, George Strait And Gloria Gaynor Among Recipients

President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will host the 48th Kennedy Center Honors.

During a press conference at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., POTUS also revealed that this year's honorees include actor/filmmaker Sylvester Stallone (Tulsa King), rock band Kiss, singer-songwriter George Strait, singer Gloria Gaynor, and actor/comedian/singer Michael Crawford.

The annual fete is held each December and filmed for broadcast on CBS; an airdate has not yet been confirmed.

Trump shunned the prestigious ceremony for the entirety of his first term. But in February, just four weeks after his second inauguration, POTUS purged the historically bipartisan Kennedy Center board of any Democratic members. Soon after, he became the first president to be elected chairman of the Kennedy Center, succeeding George W. Bush appointee David Rubenstein.

"The Kennedy Center learned the hard way that if you go woke, you will go broke," White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a PREVIOUS statement to The Wall Street Journal. "President Trump and the members of his newly appointed board are devoted to rebuilding the Kennedy Center into a thriving and highly respected institution where all Americans, and visitors from around the world, can enjoy the arts with respect to America's great history and traditions."
