Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Secures Full-Season Order At CBS
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will hit the one-year mark, now that CBS has handed a back-nine order to the Young Sheldon spinoff, upping its Season 1 episode count to 22 episodes.
The full-season pick-up comes less than two weeks after the freshman comedy's Oct. 17 premiere, which opened to 6.6 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating, down in viewers but steady in the demo vs. Young Sheldon's final season (7.3 mil/0.5); TVLine readers gave the premiere an average grade of "B+," with 92% planning to stay tuned.
"With the resounding success of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, we were instantly on board when Chuck [Lorre], Steven [Molaro] and Steve [Holland] brought us the idea to further explore this world through Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," said Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, in a statement on Wednesday. "The enthusiastic audience reception has demonstrated the enormous appeal of these characters and we can't wait to see all of the hilarious fun this season will undoubtedly deliver."
The series centers on the titular couple (played by Montana Jordan and Emily Osment) as they navigate the challenges of adulthood, parenting and marriage — all while living with Mandy's parents, Jim (Will Sasso) and Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones).
The title is a play on previously established Big Bang Theory lore: In the hit sitcom's 2019 series finale, newly minted Nobel Prize winner Sheldon said that he received congratulatory texts from Georgie's ex-wife... and Georgie's other ex-wife.
New episodes of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage air Thursdays at 8/7c on CBS (and stream next day on Paramount+).
