Shifting Gears Sets Home Improvement And Last Man Standing Reunions For Season 2 — Who's Joining Tim Allen?
Shifting Gears is staging a major Home Improvement reunion: The Tim Allen comedy's Season 2 premiere will reunite Allen with former co-stars Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn and Debbe Dunning.
What's more, Last Man Standing's Nancy Travis, who guest-starred in Shifting Gears Season 1 as spirited widow Charlotte, will again reunite with Allen in Season 2.
While character details are being kept under ways, Deadline reports that Richardson, Karn and Dunning — better known to Home Improvement fans as Jill, Al and Heidi — will appear in the Wednesday, Oct. 1 season opener and support Allen's character, Matt Parker, in an "unexpected way."

Allen has never shied from enlisting his former castmates to appear on his other shows. On Last Man Standing, Richardson guest-starred in two episodes as inconsiderate neighbor Helen Potts; Karn recurred in Season 2 as Bill McKendree, an architect who frequently did business with Mike at Outdoor Man; Jonathan Taylor Thomas appeared in Seasons 2 and 3 as Kristin's boss John, and later made a cameo as Helen's son Randy; and Blake Clark, who played Home Improvement hardware store owner Harry, popped up in a Season 5 episode as coffee house proprietor Clark. Additionally, Shifting Gears Season 1 included a cameo by Last Man recurring player Jay Leno.
Shifting Gears Season 2 premieres Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8/7c on ABC (and streams next day on Hulu). Will you tune in for the big Home Improvement reunion?
