Jon Stewart Isn't Leaving The Daily Show After Election — Find Out For How Long He's Staying
Jon Stewart will not disappear from The Daily Show once the votes are cast in next week's presidential election.
Far from it.
Comedy Central announced on Monday that Stewart — who in February returned to his Daily Show stomping grounds as the late-night program's Monday-night host, though only through Election Day (Nov. 5) — now will be staying on as Monday's host through December of 2025.
"I've truly enjoyed being back working with the incredible team at The Daily Show and Comedy Central," Stewart, a 22-time Emmy Award winner, said in a statement. "I was really hoping they'd allow me to do every other Monday, but I'll just have to suck it up...."
Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global Co-CEO and President/CEO, Showtime & MTV Entertainment Studios, said, "Jon's incisive intellect and sharp wit make him one of the most important voices in political and cultural commentary today. His ability to cut through the noise and deliver clear-eyed insights is exactly what we need which is why we are thrilled to have him leading The Daily Show for another year."
The Emmy-winning Daily Show News Team will continue to share hosting duties Tuesday through Thursday of each week.
Stewart serves as a Daily Show executive producer alongside showrunner Jen Flanz and Stewart's long-time manager, James "Baby Doll" Dixon.
Stewart's Feb. 12 return to the Daily Show desk came 14 months after his successor, Trevor Noah, walked away from the gig after a seven-year run. What followed was an exhaustive search for a new host that saw nearly two-dozen familiar faces try out for the gig — but in the end, Comedy Central went with... none of them.
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11/10c on Comedy Central, and streams next day on Paramount+.
