Kamala Harris, Tim Walz To Join CNN For First TV Interview As Democratic Presidential And VP Nominees

Following their official nomination to lead the Democratic ticket in this year's presidential election, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are sitting down for their first post-convention interview with CNN.

Vice President Harris and Governor Walz will join CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash this Thursday at 9/8c for their first joint interview since the campaign began, the network announced on Tuesday. It also marks the first time Harris has sat down for an extensive TV interview since she stepped up to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic party's nominee last month.

Harris and Walz are fresh off formally accepting the Democratic party's nomination as president and vice president at last week's Democratic National Convention. (Watch video of Harris' acceptance speech here.) It's been a whirlwind campaign since President Biden withdrew from the presidential race and endorsed Harris as his replacement. She selected Walz, the current governor of Minnesota, as her running mate earlier this month.

Harris is also set to square off against former president and Republican nominee Donald Trump in their first presidential debate on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 9/8c on ABC. Walz will face off against Trump's running mate JD Vance in a vice presidential debate on Tuesday, Oct. 1 on CBS.
