Landman Renewed For Season 2 At Paramount+

Tommy Norris isn't giving up the oil business anytime soon.

Paramount+ has renewed Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace's Landman for Season 2, TVLine has learned.

"Landman was one of the biggest shows of the year because of Taylor Sheridan's unique ability to tap into the cultural zeitgeist, harnessing the Neo-western themes of rugged individualism, ambition and working-class struggles set against contemporary debates around energy, climate change and economic growth," said Chris McCarthy, President and CEO, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, via statement. "The series has helped drive Paramount+ to new heights as the No. 2 SVOD in the U.S. for Original Hours Watched in Q4, alongside our other hit series Tulsa KingThe AgencyLioness and Dexter: Original Sin."

Paramount+ says that Landman had 35 million global streaming viewers for its premiere (based on Average Minute Audience and including CTV viewing), and that it delivered the most-watched global premiere and finale of any series in the streamer's history. Per Nielsen, Millennials and Gen X were the main draw for Landman, with 58% of the audience falling into the 35-64 age bracket.

The series follows Norris (Billy Bob Thornton) in the cutthroat world of oilfields in Texas where "roughnecks and wildcat billionaires are fueling a boom so big it's reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics," per the official logline. The Season 1 finale, which started streaming in January, found Tommy assuming leadership of the oil company he works for after the unexpected death of his boss, CEO Monty Miller (played by Jon Hamm). Alongside Thornton, the cast includes Ali Larter as Angela, Jacob Lofland as Cooper, Colm Feore as Nathan, Michelle Randolph as Ainsley, Paulina Chavez as Ariana, Mark Collie as Sheriff Joeberg, James Jordan as Dale and Demi Moore as Cami Miller. Concurrent with the renewal news, TVLine can confirm that Andy Garcia, who made his debut as cartel boss Gallino in the Season 1 finale, is returning for Season 2 as a series regular.
