Last Night's SVU Had Two Different Endings, Depending On Where You Watched It
Warning: This post contains spoilers from this week's Law & Order: SVU. Proceed accordingly.
This morning, I opened the Law & Order: SVU recap I wrote last night and found this comment from a reader named Grey's Fan:
"The last scene you described with Capt. Benson and Det. Bruno didn't happen. The final scene was new guy Griff greeting a guy sitting in his SUV before climbing the steps and entering the building where the Chief lives."
I was sure the Benson/Bruno scene had happened — I watched and recapped live — but it was possible that I had somehow missed the Griffin scene afterward while putting the finishing touches on the post. So I checked on Peacock, saw Griffin approaching Tynan's building, and added a line to the recap to note the pretty important plot point. The guy just vowed he wasn't a mole! And now he might be?! Who even knows?
Turns out, the ending I (and maybe you) watched on NBC and the ending Peacock viewers saw were completely different. The broadcast version finished with Det. Bruno coming into Capt. Benson's office with a message from Law & Order: Organized Crime's Sgt. Bell: Det. Stabler was in the hospital. This led into Organized Crime Season 5's second episode, which started streaming on Peacock earlier this year and which NBC aired last night.

We hear the difference was solely to facilitate the lead-in to last night's Organized Crime.
SVU has had an alternate ending on streaming before. In 2022, during Season 23, Benson ran into Stabler on Mother's Day at the end of an SVU episode. The scene served as a bridge into the Organized Crime Season 3 episode that followed. But when the episode appeared on Hulu the next day, the Stabler/Benson meet-up wasn't there.
If you watched this week's SVU, which ending did you see? Let us know in the comments!
