Patricia Arquette And Jason Clarke Play Maggie And Alex Murdaugh In Hulu's True Crime Mini — Watch Trailer
The Murdaugh family is getting the miniseries treatment.
Hulu on Wednesday released a trailer for Murdaugh: Death in the Family ahead of its Oct. 15 debut. Three episodes will drop on premiere day, followed by one new episode every Wednesday through Nov. 19.
Inspired by the popular Murdaugh Murders podcast, the eight-episode retelling casts Patricia Arquette (Severance) and Jason Clarke (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty) as Maggie and Alex Murdaugh. Per the official logline, "Maggie and Alex enjoy a lavish life of privilege as members of one of South Carolina's most powerful legal dynasties. But when their son Paul is involved in a deadly boat crash, the family is faced with a test unlike any they've ever encountered. As details come to light and new challenges emerge, the family's connections to several mysterious deaths raise questions which threaten everything Maggie and Alex hold dear."
Rounding out the cast are Johnny Berchtold as Paul Murdaugh, Will Harrison as Buster Murdaugh, Brittany Snow as podcast host Mandy Matney, and J. Smith-Cameron as Marian Proctor.
The series hails from co-creators Michael D. Fuller (Locke & Key) and Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears); Fuller also serves as showrunner. Additional executive producers include Arquette, Clarke, Matney, Nick Antosca and Steven Piet (The Act), Alex Hedlund (Candy), David Moses (the Murdaugh Murders podcast) and Bill Johnson (One of Us Is Lying).
In addition to the aforementioned podcast, the Murdaugh family was also the subject of a two-season Netflix docuseries — Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal — as well as a two-part Lifetime TV-movie that cast Bill Pullman as the disgraced family patriarch.
