Olivia Rodrigo To Perform At 2023 VMAs

It's a bad good idea, right?

MTV announced Thursday that three-time Grammy winner Olivia Rodrigo will perform at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, airing Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 8/7c. The news comes just hours before the release of her second studio album, GUTS, which drops Friday on all major music platforms.

Rodrigo is nominated in five categories, including Video of the Year. She made her VMAs debut in 2021, where she took home three Moon Persons (for Best New Artist, Push Artist and Song of the Year).

Previously announced performers include Anitta, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, Måneskin, Shakira, Stray Kids and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Global Icon Award recipient Sean "Diddy" Combs will also take the stage for his first VMAs performance since 2005.

The first round of presenters include Bebe Rexha, Charli D'Amelio, Coco Jones, Dixie D'Amelio, Emily Ratajkowski, French Montana, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Jared Leto, Madelyn Cline, Rita Ora and Sabrina Carpenter.

Taylor Swift leads the pack with eight nominations this year. SZA follows closely behind with six nods, while the following acts are entering the race with five nominations apiece: Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Rodrigo and Sam Smith. In third place are BLACKPINK, Diddy and Video Vanguard Award recipient Shakira, with four each. (For the full list, click here.)
