Peaky Blinders Sequel Series From Steven Knight Gets Two-Season Order At BBC And Netflix

Get ready to meet a new generation of the Shelby family.

A Peaky Blinders sequel series from original creator Steven Knight has been set at Netflix and BBC, Deadline reports. (OG Peaky star Cillian Murphy will executive-produce.) Each season will consist of six hour-long episodes.

Set in Britain in 1953, the series will follow a new generation of the Shelby family as Birmingham tries to build a better future out of concrete and steel after being heavily bombed in WWII. "In a new era of Steven Knight's Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham's massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions," the logline reads. "This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart."

Casting details and a release date have not yet been announced.

The sequel reportedly will follow up on the events of the as-yet-untitled Peaky Blinders film, which is currently in production at Netflix. The movie will see Stephen Graham (Matilda), Sophie Rundle (Gentleman Jack), Ned Dennehy (Culprits), Packy Lee (Blue Lights) and Ian Peck (His Dark Materials) all reprise their roles along side Murphy's Tommy Shelby. New cast members include Rebecca Ferguson (Silo), Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Tim Roth (Lie to Me, Tin Star).

Peaky Blinders, which aired for six seasons on Netflix, followed a notorious gang in 1919 Birmingham, England, led by the fierce Tommy Shelby, a crime boss set on moving up in the world no matter the cost. The series wrapped up in 2022, but Knight hinted at the time that a movie was in the works: "I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peaky with a movie. That is what is going to happen."
