Poker Face: Natasha Lyonne Tangles With John Mulaney, Cynthia Erivo And More Guest Stars In Season 2 Trailer
Poker Face's Charlie Cale is hitting the road again... and running into a lot of familiar faces.
Peacock has released the official trailer for Season 2 of the Natasha Lyonne-led mystery series, premiering Thursday, May 8 with the first three episodes. In the trailer (which you can watch above), we see human lie detector Charlie calling "bulls–t" on a character played by guest star Cynthia Erivo... even when she's just saying her name. Plus, John Mulaney plays an FBI agent hot on Charlie's tail, and Alia Shawkat plays a woman fascinated by Charlie: "I want to know everything there is to know about you." A blushing Charlie replies: "Gosh, you don't mean that... but flattered nonetheless."
Poker Face stars Lyonne as Charlie Cale, a former casino cocktail waitress who has an uncanny ability to tell when people are lying. Each week is a self-contained mystery, with Charlie driving across the country encountering colorful characters and solving crimes along the way. Season 1 debuted in January 2023, earning four Emmy nominations, including one for Lyonne for best lead actress in a comedy.
Season 2, which will consist of 12 episodes, will welcome a host of new guest stars besides Erivo, Mulaney and Shawkat, including Katie Holmes, Giancarlo Esposito, Melanie Lynskey, Justin Theroux, John Cho, Margo Martindale, Kumail Nanjiani, Awkwafina and many more. Plus, Tony Tost takes over as showrunner in Season 2, replacing Nora and Lilla Zuckerman.
"Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in Season 2 we've taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time," co-creators Rian Johnson and Lyonne said in a statement. "From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime solving existential road-trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability."
