Super Bowl: Post Malone Sings 'America The Beautiful' — Grade It!
Chart-topping musician Post Malone joined the Super Bowl pre-game festivities on Sunday, belting out a rendition of the patriotic standard "America the Beautiful" on the field at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, strumming an acoustic guitar as he played.
Along with Malone's performance, Andra Day sang "Lift Every Voice and Sing" and Reba McEntire sang the national anthem ahead of Super Bowl LVIII, with the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers battling it out for the NFL championship. Plus, Usher will headline the halftime show — and as you may already know, Taylor Swift is also on hand to cheer on her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. (She seemed to enjoy Malone's performance, too, swaying along with pal Blake Lively as he sang.)
Post Malone is one of music's biggest superstars today, with more than 80 million records sold. His hits include "Sunflower," "Circles" and "Chemical." He has been nominated for nine Grammys, including an Album of the Year nod for 2018's Beerbongs & Bentleys.
"America the Beautiful" has been a musical standard for more than a century and has inspired many memorable covers over the years. Elvis Presley used to perform the song at his 1970s concerts, and Ray Charles did a soulful cover timed to the 1976 American bicentennial that became a beloved classic.
