Project Runway Sets July Premiere Date For New Season On Freeform — Watch Teaser

One day you're in, and the next day you're out... and Project Runway will be back in at a new network this summer.

The reality competition, which previously aired on Bravo and Lifetime (then Bravo again), will make its Freeform debut on Thursday, July 31, with a two-episode premiere beginning at 9/8c. Subsequent Season 21 episodes will air weekly at 10 pm and will be available to stream "shortly after" their linear airings on both Disney+ and Hulu.

As previously reported, Heidi Klum will return as Runway host for Season 21, after filling that role for the show's first 16 seasons (with a Primetime Emmy win in 2013 for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program). Since 2019, model Karlie Kloss has hosted.

Additionally, Nina Garcia and Law Roach will serve as judges alongside Klum, while Runway Season 4 winner and fashion designer Christian Siriano will be the contestants' mentor. Tim Gunn, Runway's resident mentor for many seasons, said he was not asked back to the series, despite Klum's return.

Gunn said in February that Klum had reached out to him to see if he was interested in joining her on Season 21, and he was: "Of course, there's not a moment of hesitation in me." But months went by, and he didn't receive a contract offer when Klum did, so Gunn called his agent. "He contacted the executive producers of this new show, and they said, 'We don't want him,'" Gunn recalled. "So I wasn't asked back." The producers did offer Gunn to make a cameo, but he turned that down: "As Heidi would say, you're either in or you're out. And I'm out."

Producer Dan Cutforth said in an October 2024 statement that Runway's move to Freeform will evolve the series "for a new generation," with producer Jane Lipsitz adding that the refresh will "honor our die-hard Project Runway fans" while also introducing new and innovative ideas.
