Star Trek: Strange New Worlds To End With Season 5 At Paramount+
Fittingly, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will end up having a five-year mission.
Paramount+ has renewed the Trek prequel for a fifth and final season, TVLine has learned. But we'll still spend plenty more time with Captain Pike and the Enterprise crew: Season 3 debuts Thursday, July 17 on the streamer — watch a trailer here — and production on Season 4 is already underway. The six-episode Season 5 will begin shooting later this year.
"From the very beginning, Strange New Worlds set out to honor what Star Trek has always stood for — boundless curiosity, hope and the belief that a better future is possible," executive producers Akiva Goldsman, Henry Alonso Myers and Alex Kurtzman said in a statement. "We're deeply grateful to Paramount+ for the chance to complete our five-season mission, just as we envisioned it, alongside our extraordinary cast and crew. And to the passionate fans who've boldly joined us on this journey — THANK YOU. With three more spectacular seasons ahead for you to see and enjoy, this adventure is far from over."
Strange New Worlds follows Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck), Number One (Rebecca Romijn) and the rest of the Enterprise crew in the years before Captain Kirk took command of the starship, as they explore new worlds around the galaxy. The cast also includes Celia Rose Gooding (as Uhura), Jess Bush (as Chapel), Christina Chong (as La'an), Carol Kane (as Pelia), Melissa Navia (as Ortegas), Babs Olusanmokun (as M'Benga) and Martin Quinn (as Scotty), along with special guest star Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk.
