Colbert To Trump: You're Not The 'Perfect Person' To Defend Bill O'Reilly

Having spent a decade on Comedy Central playing a character loosely based on Bill O'Reilly, it was only a matter of time before Stephen Colbert addressed the $13 million elephant in the room.

On Wednesday's Late Show, Colbert began his monologue by remarking on the recent New York Times report that states that Fox News and The O'Reilly Factor host spent approximately $13 million in harassment settlements involving five different women who have accused O'Reilly of misconduct.

"There is one thing I haven't done on this show, and that's talk about Bill O'Reilly," Colbert pointed out to his audience. "Bill comes on the show, we have a good time when he's on here, we have nice conversations. But I talked about him for, like, 10 years, and I think that's enough."

Colbert, of course, couldn't help himself, and continued by pointing out that earlier that day, President Donald Trump had come to O'Reilly's defense — or as he vividly put it, "Trump stuck his, let's say 'finger,' into O'Reilly's sticky situation." Colbert was referring to a quote in the Times, where POTUS argued that O'Reilly is "a good person" who "shouldn't have settled" because "I don't think Bill did anything wrong."

"Mr. President, I want to remind you that you just declared April Sexual Assault Awareness Month and there are two accusations of sexual assault I'm aware of: Bill O'Reilly's and yours," Colbert stressed. "So maybe you are not the perfect person to weigh in on this one."
