Our Dream Stranger Things Spinoff
Since before us lies such a long wait for the fifth and final season of Netflix's Stranger Things — here's one reason why — we've been biding our time thinking about what comes after. Series creators the Duffer Brothers have already said that they have one spinoff in mind. And we have another: a dramedy that follows Joe Keery's Steve Harrington and Maya Hawke's Robin Buckley as they settle into what passes for "normal" life in Hawkins post-Vecna crisis.
In our scenario, Steve will have lost ex-girlfriend Nancy Wheeler to her current boyfriend Jonathan Byers, with whom she's moved to California. So now, not only is Steve dealing with the realization that the love of his life just walked out of his life, he's playing third wheel as bestie Robin tiptoes out of the friend zone with crush Vickie.
Imagine the fun that could be had with Robin playing Steve's wingperson. And Steve turning for relationship advice to lil' buddy Dustin Henderson. ("Ah, the student has become the teacher," we can just hear Suzie's Dusty Bun saying.) And Steve eventually coming to see that, while Nancy was for sure someone special, she wasn't The One. Who is?
Family Video's newest employee, a goth girl who starts hanging out with Steve just to prove to him that romance is the deadest of dead ends. Needless to say, both she and Steve will be in for a surprise when they notice that, sometime when they weren't looking, they went from chilling together to hot for one another. Wonder what reaction they'll get from her mom, who in secret practices black magic — and would have to be played by a Winona Ryder-esque '80s icon. Jennifer Beals, perhaps? Jennifer Grey?
Got a better idea for a spinoff. Drop it in a comment below.
