The Good Place Is Leaving Netflix — Where Will It Stream Now?
The Good Place is leaving Netflix in September. But before you go and give yourself a stomachache, or assume that this is the bad place, know that the beloved Kristen Bell-Ted Danson afterlife comedy isn't disappearing from streaming altogether.
Beginning Friday, Sept. 26, all four seasons (52 episodes) will migrate from Netflix to Prime Video.
When The Good Place begins, Arizona trash bag Eleanor Shellstrop (Bell) dies and winds up in an afterlife paradise reserved only for the most ethical people — including her supposed soulmate, ethics professor Chidi Anagonye (played by William Jackson Harper). Determined to stay, Eleanor decides to become a better person.
Rounding out the cast are Jameela Jamil as philanthropist/fashion model Tahani Al-Jamil, D'Arcy Carden as virtual assistant Janet, Manny Jacinto as amateur disk jockey Jason Mendoza, and Danson as Good Place architect Michael.
The Michael Schur sitcom racked up 13 Emmy nominations over the course of its 2016-2020 run, including two nods for Outstanding Comedy Series, and individual nominations for Harper, Carden, Danson and recurring guest star Maya Rudolph. Alas, it is one of TV's 20 best shows that never won an Emmy.
Four years after its series finale, Schur re-teamed with Danson on the Netflix original A Man on the Inside, whose first season featured cameos by Bell and Carden. (Season 2 premieres in November.)
