The Walking Dead: Dead City Renewed For Season 3 — With A Twist

The Walking Dead is going to take another bite out of the Big Apple: AMC on Wednesday announced that it had renewed its Negan-and-Maggie-centric Dead City for Season 3. But this time around, Seth Hoffman, once a co-EP on the mothership, will be taking over showrunner duties from series creator Eli Jorné.

"We're thankful to Eli for two seasons of Dead City that took the story of these iconic characters in exciting new directions and broadened this thriving universe by introducing a new corner of the walker apocalypse," reads AMC boss Dan McDermott's statement. "As we continue to create new stories for a passionate fan base, we're delighted to have a seasoned Walking Dead veteran like Seth at the helm of a new season, alongside the remarkable Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, that will bring new adversaries and alliances and push the boundaries of Maggie and Negan's conflicted relationship."

You'll recall that Season 2 ended with Glenn's widow vowing to put an end to his murderer once and for all... then changing her mind when she saw Negan weeping over ill-fated Ginny. (Read the recap.) "In Season 3," AMC says, "Maggie and Negan finally put aside their differences to build the first thriving community in Manhattan since the apocalypse. But when chaos in the city begins to arise, they are forced to question: Have they learned from their old wounds or will their dark past spell doom for the entire city?"

Production on Season 3 begins this fall not in Manhattan but Boston. Your reaction to the renewal news? Drop it in a comment below.
