The White Lotus Brings In An Oscar Winner To Tell An Outrageously Wild Sex Story
The White Lotus had a surprise guest drop in this week — and we were even more surprised when we heard what he had to say.
Oscar winner Sam Rockwell made a surprise appearance in Sunday's episode of the HBO luxury hotel dramedy, playing the role of Frank, who is old friends with Walton Goggins' Rick. (Read our full recap here.) Frank met up with Rick in a Bangkok hotel lobby, and we learned that the two of them used to party together a lot. But Frank has cleaned up his act and found religion, sipping chamomile tea and telling Rick he's been sober for 10 months now: "I took the partying thing as far as it can go." And what did he mean by that? Well...
Frank proceeded to tell Rick what led to his sobriety: He moved to Thailand because he had to leave the country and "I always had a thing for Asian girls." He partied hard at first, bringing a different girl home every night, but that got old after a while. He started looking inward and wondering why he couldn't find satisfaction, deciding that "maybe what I really want is to be one of these Asian girls." Huh? Well, then Frank hired a Thai ladyboy for penetrative sex, "and it was kind of magical." He realized that he actually wanted to have sex with himself, so he started dressing up like an Asian girl and having sex with random white men his age to fulfill the fantasy. He even hired an Asian girl to watch, so he could look into her eyes during sex and think: "I am her. And I'm f–king me."

While Rick's mind was reeling from hearing all of this (and ours, too), Frank casually concluded: "Hey, we all have our Achilles heel, man." He was searching for who he really was inside and what he really wanted: "Guess I was trying to f–k my way to the answer." But Frank realized he had to stop, and he got into Buddhism and got sober, taking a break from the ever-spinning wheel of desire. Being sober is easy, he tells Rick, but "I still miss that p—y, man."
Obviously, this was a crazy story in and of itself — and sure to be one of the most talked-about moments of the season — but what did it tell us about Rick? He's still stuck on the wheel of desire, it seems, seeking retribution for a crime that has haunted him all his life and pushing everything else aside (including his loving girlfriend Chelsea) to get it. Will he, too, realize that he can never find satisfaction that way by the end of the season? We'll find out soon enough: Season 3 of The White Lotus only has three episodes left, with the season finale set for Sunday, Apr. 6 at 9/8c on HBO.
