Ty Burrell Comedy Pilot Forgive & Forget Not Moving Forward At ABC
ABC is forgetting about Forgive & Forget: The comedy pilot starring Emmy winner Ty Burrell is not moving forward at the network, TVLine has learned.
Burrell was to have starred as "perennial life of the party Hank," per the official description. "After an unexpected diagnosis, Hank reconnects with his responsible adult son Ben in hopes of making new memories together."
Robin Shorr (The Middle) was slated to serve as showrunner on the multi-cam comedy, with Eugene Garcia-Cross (The Santa Clauses) penning the pilot. Both would have executive-produced as well alongside Burrell.
The project would have reunited Burrell with ABC: He won two Emmys for playing hapless dad Phil Dunphy on ABC's Modern Family, which wrapped up an 11-season run in 2020. Since then, Burrell provided the voice of Jack on Fox's animated comedy Duncanville.
ABC did, however, hand a series order to Shifting Gears, a new sitcom starring Tim Allen and Kat Dennings. In it, Allen plays a widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop whose life is turned upside-down when his estranged daughter (Dennings) and her teenage kids move into his house.
