Will Smith Eyed For Netflix's Next Live Roast — Should He Do It?
Is Will Smith willing to be the butt of the joke? We soon may find out.
According to Puck News, Smith is one of several celebrities Netflix has approached about headlining their next live comedy roast — a no holds barred ribbing that would inevitably invite jokes about the infamous Oscars slap and his very public marriage to Jada Pinkett Smith.
TVLine has reached out to Smith's reps for comment. Netflix declined comment at this time.
The Smith roast would follow Tom Brady's Greatest Roast of All Time, which was broadcast live on Netflix in May 2023. It was hosted by Kevin Hart and roastmaster Jeff Ross, and featured comedians Nikki Glaser, Tom Segura, Andrew Schulz, Bert Kreischer, Tony Hinchcliffe, Sam Jay and Will Ferrell (who appeared in character as Anchorman's Ron Burgandy), and Brady's former teammates Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Drew Bledsoe.
Later that month, the retired quarterback appeared on "The Pivot Podcast" and lamented his decision to participate. More specifically, he said that some of the jokes made during his roast poorly affected his children and that he wouldn't sign up to do it again. While he didn't specify the jokes in question, many of the comedians who roasted Brady targeted his high-profile marriage and divorce to Gisele Bündchen, with whom he has two kids.
So, what do you think: Should Smith agree to be roasted? Or should he heed Brady's advice and avoid it at all costs? Weigh in via the following poll, then sound off in Comments.
