Yellowjackets To End With Season 4 — The Creators Tease A 'Twisted' Conclusion
The girls of Yellowjackets might finally be coming home: The survival drama will end with the upcoming fourth season, TVLine has learned.
"After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we're excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season," co-creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson said in a statement. "We've always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it's our belief that our job — our responsibility — is to listen."
The statement added: "Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we're so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life. Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can't wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it... delicious."
Yellowjackets tells the tale of a girls' high school soccer team in the 1990s that survived a plane crash and then had to live out in the wilderness. The show also flashes forward 25 years later to the present, where the surviving girls are haunted by the memories of what they endured. Melanie Lynskey leads an ensemble cast that includes Tawny Cypress and Christina Ricci, along with Sophie Thatcher, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Nélisse and Samantha Hanratty as the stranded teen girls. Elijah Wood and Hilary Swank joined the cast in later seasons.
Debuting in 2021, Yellowjackets has earned multiple Emmy nominations, including a pair for Outstanding Drama Series. Season 3 debuted in February, with Paramount hailing the April season finale as the series' most-streamed episode yet. (Check out our finale recap here.) The writers' room for Season 4 is already underway, with production set to begin next year; no premiere date for the final season has been set.
