Elsbeth Sneak Peek: Carrie Preston Seeks Broadway Show Recs From Her True Blood Co-Star Stephen Moyer

Elsbeth is getting the full New York City experience in TVLine's exclusive sneak peek from the Good Wife spinoff, complete with Broadway musical recommendations and a very Sex and the City-esque welcome to the Big Apple.

Premiering Thursday, Feb. 29 at 10/9c on CBS, the offshoot finds Carrie Preston reprising her standout role of Elsbeth Tascioni, an unconventional attorney who's now using "her singular point of view to make unique observations and corner brilliant criminals alongside the NYPD," per the official synopsis.

"After leaving her successful legal career in Chicago to tackle a new investigative role in New York City, Elsbeth finds herself jockeying with the toast of the NYPD, Captain C.W. Wagner (played by Wendell Pierce), a charismatic and revered leader," the description continues. "Working alongside Elsbeth is Officer Kaya Blanke (Carra Patterson), a stoic and ethical officer who quickly develops an appreciation for Elsbeth's insightful and offbeat ways."

In the above clip from the series premiere, Elsbeth has her keen eye on theater director Alex, played by Preston's former True Blood co-star Stephen Moyer. Because Elsbeth doesn't go about things the normal way, she grills Moyer's murder suspect on... whether she should see Cats or The Lion King while she's in New York. After a brief rendition of the tune "Memory," Elsbeth blindsides Alex by revealing that his student's death might now be investigated as a murder.

As a worried Alex drives off, Elsbeth has a very Carrie Bradshaw moment when gets doused with ground water from a speeding cab, a la the Sex and the City opening credits. (Both characters are even wearing pink during the incident.)

Speaking about the mini True Blood reunion, Preston tells TVLine, "I dearly love and trust Stephen. He is such a talented, supportive, adventurous, engaged and generous actor and friend. Because we have this shared history with our beloved True Blood, it put me at such ease having him by my side on the pilot. I treasured every moment we shared on screen and off."
