The Morning Show's Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon: A Major Alex/Bradley Fight 'Puts Us At Odds From The Very Beginning' Of Season 4
Meet the new UBN, same as the old UBA...?
Though a merger has changed the name of the fictional central network when The Morning Show returns for Season 4, TVLine's recent chat with the show's stars reveals that it's backstabbing business as usual under the new regime.
Not that newly minted network executive Alex wants that kind of work environment, star/executive producer Jennifer Aniston explains. After all, the merger she proposed at the end of Season 3 was designed to shake up UBA's culture, which was heavily dinged by a few of the men in power (Mitch Kessler, Cory Ellison, Paul Marks? We're looking at you.) But the new position is far more overwhelming than Alex expected. "It is way more than she thought she was biting off to chew," Aniston tells me in the video above. "The conflicts, the amount of layoffs that have to be made... There's a lot of internal conflicts, and conflicts of interest."
Meanwhile Reese Witherspoon's Bradley, last seen turning herself in to the Federal Bureau of Investigations for attempting to cover up her brother's involvement in the 2021 attack on the United States Capitol, soon finds herself sucked back into the drama at UBN's New York headquarters. "I think she has this innate drive to tell the truth and reveal injustice. You know those people, there's just those kind of people in the world who will do bizarre things because it's 'not fair!'?" Witherspoon, also an executive producer, asks. "She's one of 'em."
Witherspoon goes on to hint at how Bradley gets wind of a big story that might be great for humanity, but not so much for her confidant/partner Alex — or the network she helps run. "It puts us at odds from the very beginning," Witherspoon says.
Also of note in the video at the top of the post: Nicole Beharie and Karen Pittman preview Chris and Mia's upcoming alliance (but against whom?) and Mark Duplass explains why the eternally beleaguered Chip just might have his best season yet.
