SNL: Mike Myers Has An Awkward Reunion With 'Kanye West' — Watch
Saturday Night Live has been giving us plenty of big-name reunions in its landmark 50th season... but we weren't expecting this one.
Former cast member Mike Myers appeared as himself in a sketch on Saturday's season finale, entering an elevator and getting greeted by fans. When the elevator stopped, though, he was confronted by a figure from his past: rapper Kanye West, played by Kenan Thompson in a black sweatshirt and sunglasses. (Quick history lesson: Myers and West appeared together at a benefit for Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005, with Myers forced to stand by awkwardly as Kanye ranted that President "George Bush doesn't care about Black people.")
In the sketch, when Myers saw Kanye getting on the elevator, his smile immediately vanished. Kanye was busy at first barking at someone on the phone ("How is it not relatable? Everybody's got a cousin!"), but then he recognized Myers. Kanye recalled the Katrina benefit, when he went off on Bush and "you just had to stand there, looking stupid." Myers asked him how he's doing, and Kanye gave him an update: "I'm in the KKK now."
Kanye then lamented the fall of Diddy: "You think you know a guy. Turns out to be a full crazy monster man." So Myers asked: "What happened to you?" Kanye didn't catch the inference, though. The elevator stopped, but when the people waiting for it saw Kanye onboard, they ran for the hills. Kanye tried taking a selfie with Myers, but Myers dodged it, pushing a bunch of buttons and making the elevator halt in its tracks. He tried jumping to get it moving again, but Kanye refused to join in: "I don't like doing crazy stuff."
