SNL Host Bad Bunny Jokes About Super Bowl Halftime Controversy, Sends A Message To His Fans In Spanish — Watch

Bad Bunny has had a few people talking about him lately, and he wasted no time in tackling that in the Saturday Night Live season premiere.

The Latino music superstar hosted SNL for the second time on Saturday, and in his monologue, he addressed the controversy surrounding his upcoming performance at the Super Bowl halftime show. (Some conservative critics have complained that Bad Bunny doesn't sing in English and has spoken out against President Trump's immigration policies.) But Bad Bunny shrugged off the criticism, insisting that "everyone's happy about" him performing — and proving it with a highly edited montage of Fox News hosts saying "Bad Bunny is my favorite musician, and he should be the next President."

Bad Bunny then thanked his fans for supporting him, "especialmente todos latinos y latinas," launching into a lengthy speech entirely in Spanish. "And if you didn't understand what I just said," he added with a sly smile, "you have four months to learn!"

(Per an online translator, here's what Bad Bunny said in Spanish: "Especially all the Latinos and Latinas all over the world. And here in the United States, all the people who have worked to open doors. More than an achievement of mine, it's an achievement for all of us. Demonstrating our footprint, our contribution. No one will ever be able to remove or erase it.")

He also told the audience he just got done performing a residency in his native Puerto Rico, where he welcomed some celebrity attendees — including Jon Hamm, who was pictured grooving along to the music in a Hawaiian shirt and bucket hat. "Actually, that wasn't Jon Hamm," Bad Bunny told us. "That was Juan Jamón." And sure enough, Hamm (a frequent SNL host himself) popped up in the audience wearing that Hawaiian shirt and bucket hat, still grooving to the music. "I think he's a little obsessed with me," Bad Bunny added with a laugh.
