SNL Video: Dana Carvey's Church Lady Welcomes A Host Of Sinners, Including David Spade's Hunter Biden
The Church Lady is back to pass judgment this week on Saturday Night Live... and you don't want to face her wrath.
Former cast member Dana Carvey reprised his famous SNL character to open Saturday's episode, with the Church Lady marking the end of "the most Satanic year in history." She lamented that little girls these days are "looking up to the Hawk Tuah girl" when they really "need to Walk Tuah a church!" She also turned her ire to the movie Wicked and "that vixen" Sabrina Carpenter: "You know who's the best carpenter? Jesus!"
Her first guest was Sarah Sherman's Matt Gaetz, who she thought looked surprised, but Gaetz told her: "No, this is just how my face is." ("It looks like your forehead is trying to go to heaven without you," she added.) She called him on the carpet for his alleged "sexual peccadilloes" with underage girls and reminded him to repent, since Christmas is only 17 days away. Gaetz's smug reply: "You had me at 17."
Then the Church Lady welcomed Joe Biden's recently pardoned son Hunter Biden, played by fellow SNL alum David Spade. Hunter referred to her as the Church Woman at first, and when the Church Lady corrected him, he replied: "Oh, well, pardon me." ("Who do you think I am?" the Church Lady responded. "Your daddy?") She reminded him that "Jesus wasn't walking around in a robe with no underwear, hanging out with prostitutes." "Uh... I think he was," Hunter noted, but the Church Lady fired back: "Well, Jesus certainly didn't turn water into crack!"
Marcello Hernandez later popped up to play former New York Yankee and current free agent Juan Soto, with the Church Lady scolding him for making hundreds of millions of dollars just to "smack some balls around with a big stick." She urged him to use his money to help the needy and less fortunate, and he considered her advice: "You're right. Maybe I sign with the Mets." The Church Lady then wrapped things up with a rousing singalong of "Satan Had a Good Year," capped off by her signature dance.
