Survivor Recap: Kyle And Kamilla Line Up A Risky Frame Job — But Did It Work?
"Now is the time to actually start playing Survivor," Kamilla says in Season 48's penultimate episode. Well, I'd argue that maybe people should've started playing a long while ago, but hey, that's just me quarterbacking from the couch again! But in Wednesday's episode, Kyle and Shauhin once again do a lot of talking about possibly making a move, while Mitch and Kamilla stand by, guns a-blazing, ready and willing to take a shot at the very mighty Joe and Eva.
But time is running out! We're at the Final 6, and Shauhin is wondering if it's time for "all gas, no brakes." (YES. YES IT IS.) Watching this season has been a little frustrating, right? Besides the David vote, we've been sitting on the sidelines champing on the bit for moves to be made. Luckily for us, Episode 12 finally delivers the payoff we all deserve. Kyle makes a hefty proposition to his No. 1 Kamilla: He wants to flip the script on Shauhin by telling Joe and Eva that Shauhin wants them out. The plan also comes with a wee bit of a lie. OK, a BIG one: Kyle wants to tell Joe that Shauhin showed Kamilla an immunity idol. But we all know the man with the "museum-worthy legs" possesses no such thing. Besides his apparently chiseled and attractive stems, that is.
After the well-fed Joe (more on that business below) wins immunity, Shauhin remains up for grabs. When the tribe gets back from the challenge, Kyle goes in for the kill telling Joe that Shauhin is flipping on him. Joe takes some time to digest it all, and to his credit, he's aware it could all be a bunch of hogwash. Kamilla does a bang-up job corroborating Kyle's story, but Joe goes straight to the source to ask a few questions. Shauhin can sense that something is off, but he can't quite figure out what's up with Joe, especially since they're all a part of a majority alliance and Joe has that pretty necklace on his person. Right before Tribal, Joe talks with Eva: What if Kyle and Kamilla are scheming and it's all a bunch of BS? His spidey sense is tingling, but the guy still seems like he's been thrown for a loop.
THE TRIBE HAS SPOKEN | As Kyle and Shauhin talk to Jeff about paranoia, allies and trust, Joe seems to be blanking out. The audio fading into the background makes it seem like he's either not paying attention or that he still has zero clue about what to do or who to listen to. As players put pens to parchments, we viewers are just as clueless as Joe is. No idols are played, and when the votes are tallied, Kyle and Kamilla's plan to frame Shauhin works: Shauhin is voted out of the game with four votes to his name. (Notably, Kamilla votes for Mitch. Was this a backup plan in case an idol was played, or does Kamilla have an ulterior motive... thoughts?)
OTHER JUNGLE HAPS:
* Before I bid you farewell, we need to talk more about Shauhin's legs... just kidding! We need to chat about his hard-won trip to the Sanctuary for burgers, a night away and letters from home. Great for him, I say! But choosing to fuel Joe up before a high-stakes immunity challenge?! What the what?! Definitely not a choice I, Guy On the Couch, would have made. Mitch and Kamilla both know feeding Joe isn't the best competitive choice to make. But what could they do about it? Absolutely nothing! Joe and Shauhin are in the same alliance, yes, but doesn't Shauhin want a fighting chance at winning the necklace for himself? (We asked Shauhin about all of this and more in our latest exit interview!)
Well, got nothing else for ya. Thoughts on Shauhin joining the jury? Go full tilt boogie in the comments and let your voice be heard!
