The Traitors Recap: Did Kate Accept Phaedra's Offer To Become A Traitor?
Buckle up, ladies and gents, because Kate Chastain is officially a traitor!
When Phaedra reveals the join-me-or-die ultimatum to Kate at the top of Thursday's Traitors, of course the Below Deck vet accepts the "dramatic cloak." But when she learns that Phaedra has no real game plan in mind, she's flabbergasted. (As Parvati told us, "When we were in the turret, it was me and Dan calling the shots.") So the ladies weigh their options: Kevin? Peter? Trishelle? When the decision is signed, sealed and delivered, it's Kevin who becomes the traitors' newest victim. As Alan would say: "Bye! Gone!"
Let's talk about our newest traitor for a hot sec, shall we? Kate's mind is reeling and she has no idea how to act at breakfast. The second MJ walks in, she very publicly announces that something's off with Kate. "There's something amiss," she says. "The light in Kate's face isn't totally there." So as Kate starts panic, she questions her every spoken word, and wonders whether she'd be eating salmon if she was still a faithful. (The paranoia!) Phaedra thinks she's going to get heaps of useful game knowledge from Kate, but as a very wise Sandra once said: "I don't know about that!" Either way, we're in for a wild and bumpy last few episodes here.
Trishelle thinks her crew is doomed. With numbers dwindling and the Bravo crew protecting Phaedra, she thinks the target will be on the Peter Pals come the night's roundtable. With nine people left, they need at least five votes, so attempting to sway CT and Sandra becomes their top priority. Buuut, CT tells Peter to his face that he's likely voting for him, so Team Trishelle's going to have to hustle hard if they want to escape that Circle of Truth.
MISSION | Using crossbows, players must smash stained glass windows with their names on them. The last pane left will be the player who wins the shield. Money is lost for every shot they miss, but they still come away with a respectable $15,250. However, Phaedra makes a questionable decision to go for Trishelle's glass, going against the strategy agreed upon by the group. That choice raises a red flag for CT, who at least will sleep comfortably as the solo shield holder for the next murder.
ROUNDTABLE | John kicks things off by telling Phaedra that he thinks she's a traitor. His first reason: The first two banished traitors named her as a traitor. Secondly, he says Phaedra is flying low, noncommittal by day and fatal "under the cover of darkness." (The drama of this man's words!) Phaedra counters. Both of the traitors he referenced were in collusion with Peter, so why isn't anyone talking about that? She then says that this isn't The Bachelor, and that she doesn't have to kiss Peter's ass for a rose. (Um, can Phaedra come back next season? Pretty please?)
CT brings up the mission and how Phaedra went out of her way to smash Trishelle's glass. Sandra mentions Peter's suspicious, quasi-alliance with Parvati, but Peter says he couldn't possibly be a traitor — the Bergie shield-blocking move proves that.
Alan finally puts a stop to the madness. When the votes are revealed, Phaedra and Peter's names are written four times each, leaving MJ as the tie-breaker. And because the show loves to torture us, we'll have to wait until next week to find out who lost this battle.
