TWD: Dead City Brings Negan's Family To His Doorstep — But Did The Show Just Jump... Well, The Bear?

Did The Walking Dead: Dead City just rewatch the silly Fear the Walking Dead installment in which an alligator stalked that spinoff's survivors and say, "Hold my beer," or what? Sunday's episode of Dead City featured a bear running amuck in the Met. And yes, it was every bit as ridiculous as it sounds.

On the plus side, Hershel finally perfected his knife-throwing just in time to save mom Maggie from becoming Grizzly Chow. (Isn't that convenient?)

BRUEGEL BLACKMAILED PERLIE | In other, arguably more significant developments, the Croat deduced that Negan had squashed the Dama's pet rat and attacked the Saviors' former leader with Lucille 2.0. Didn't go well for the Croat. Negan banished him and seized control of the Dama's minions. Later, Annie and Joshua arrived in New York City... but Negan didn't even meet with them. He had his henchpersons instruct his family to turn right around and return to Tennessee.

Meanwhile, Bruegel told Perlie that he wanted to be colonized by the New Babylon Federation. In fact, to sweeten the deal, the flamboyant baddie offered to procure methane and kill Negan and the Croat for the marshal. When Perlie declined the offer, Bruegel revealed that he'd gotten to Narvaez before she'd turned and found out that New Babylon wasn't aware that the marshal's whole "I killed Negan" story was hogwash.

GINNY TOOK AIM AT NEGAN | As for Hershel, he came thisclose to quoting Heathers ("My teen angst bulls—t has a body count!") as he contemplated poisoning all of Bruegel's group with walker blood. Busted by Maggie, whose obsession with Negan was a constant source of resentment, the youngster took off to find the Dama, who Maggie subsequently learned from her frenemy was dead. At least Negan was able to suggest the location at which Maggie might find her brainwashed son.

Finally, Negan, who should know better than to stand around unguarded, found himself staring down the barrel of Ginny's gun. But, what with her having been impaled — and many thanks to all who noted for me that she hadn't been bitten — she collapsed before she could pull the trigger. What did you think of "Bridge Partners Are Hard to Come By These Days"? Did you find the bear attack goofy or original? Were you sorry Negan refused to reunite with his family?
