The Walking Dead: Dead City Finally Tees Up The Reunion We've Been Waiting All Season For

In Sunday's penultimate Season 2 episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City, not one but two death wishes were nearly granted, a character we thought had croaked made a surprise reappearance, and at long last, we got to see Negan and Annie reunite... sort of. Here's how it all went down in "Novi Dan Novi Pocetak."

MAGGIE FINDS HERSHEL... AND HE'S NOT ALONE | In Maggie's half of the hour, she searched the church for Hershel but found only the Croat and the charred remains of the Dama. Under duress, the Croat suggested that Hershel might be hiding out at a safe house about which only he and the Dama had known. Needless to say, reaching the site wouldn't be easy. In fact, it meant making their way up a boobytrapped skyscraper and crossing a skybridge that gave Maggie vertigo (and almost sent her plunging to the sidewalk below).

Once the twosome reached the hideaway, it became obvious that the Croat had lied; he'd led Maggie there to kill him. She was so upset that it appeared that she also considered taking a flying leap from the window. In the end, no one jumped or, for that matter, fell. That evening, Maggie spotted her and Hershel's signal coming from a window at the New York Times building. Outside it, the Croat bid her farewell. Inside, Maggie was relieved to find Hershel. But it appeared that the Dama was somehow alive? (How?) She looked like she had had a chunk bitten out or singed off of her neck but was still strong enough to whack Maggie upside the head. (What?)

NEGAN SEES LUCILLE... AND ANNIE... AND JOSHUA | When not attending a pity party for one, Negan gleaned intel indicating that at Bellevue, he might be able to find antibiotics to treat an ailing Ginny. Leaving Pierce in charge of the patient, Negan took off for the hospital, where he suffered an apparent concussion while doing his best not to kill a kid zombie straight out of Night of the Comet. #IYKYK

When Negan tackled a hoodied interloper whom he believed had swiped the drugs right out from under him, it turned out to be... Lucille (again played by Hilarie Burton Morgan). Though she pointed out that he'd taken care of her during her cancer battle, "It wasn't enough," he lamented. Next, Negan saw Annie... and Joshua (whose smile was as mischievous as we'd been told). "What do I do?" he cried. The answer was apparently to drag a ventilator back to the church for Ginny. Reinvigorated, Negan told Pierce that he now knew where he'd gone wrong at The Sanctuary — he'd shown mercy. When his enemies come for him this time, "I'm just gonna line 'em all up, and I'm gonna kill 'em all." Welp, that's one plan made, then.
