Chicago Med 200th Episode Promo Offers First Look At Will's Return
Nick Gehlfuss is helping Chicago Med mark a major milestone.
In celebration of the NBC drama's 200th episode on Wednesday, Oct. 8, the original cast member will make his long-awaited return as Dr. Will Halstead. A promo released after the Season 11 premiere sees Halstead stumble into Gaffney carrying an injured person.
It's unknown how many episodes Gehlfuss will appear in, but TVLine has confirmed it's more than one. (Watch promo above.)
Gehlfuss starred as Dr. Halstead from the series premiere in 2015 through 2023, leaving after the Season 8 finale. We last saw him in Seattle, where Will rekindled his romance with Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and became a stepfather to her son Owen (Ari Morgan).
His return, which was announced in August, doesn't come as a total surprise: Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald told TVLine in May that he was planning to "bring back another original cast member or two" for Season 11.
Chicago Med Season 11 premiered Oct. 1, revealing the identity of Hannah's baby daddy after a major finale cliffhanger left things up in the air. The episode earned a reader grade of "B." (Read full recap.)
