Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Lands Premiere Date — See Holly Hunter And Paul Giamatti Face Off In A New Trailer

New cadets, take note: We have a stardate for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

Paramount+ has revealed the premiere date for the new Trek spinoff: It'll debut Thursday, Jan. 15 with the first two episodes, with episodes airing weekly after that, leading up to the March 12 finale.

The streamer has also released the full trailer for Starfleet Academy, which you can watch above. (The premiere date and trailer were first unveiled during the Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday.) In it, we see a boy named Caleb being ripped away from his mother (Tatiana Maslany) at a young age, and years later, Holly Hunter's school chancellor Nahla Ake encourages Caleb to join Starfleet Academy. We meet a host of fresh-faced cadets, along with old friends like Star Trek: Discovery's Tilly and Jett Reno and Star Trek: Voyager's The Doctor — and a new villain, Nus Braka, played by Paul Giamatti, who seems to have a serious grudge against Nahla and the school.

Along with Hunter and Giamatti, the cast includes Star Trek veterans Robert Picardo (as The Doctor), Tig Notaro (as Jett Reno) and Oded Fehr (as Discovery's Admiral Vance). The cadets are played by Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané, Kerrice Brooks, George Hawkins, Bella Shepard and Zoë Steiner. Plus, Gina Yashere (Bob Hearts Abishola) recurs as Commander Lura Thok, a Klingon/Jem'Hadar hybrid who is the chancellor's First Officer and Cadet Master. And in just-announced news, Stephen Colbert will provide the voice of Starfleet Academy's Digital Dean of Students.

Starfleet Academy "introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism," per the official synopsis. "Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself."
