The Crown Trailer Foreshadows Diana's Tragic Death In Final Season — Watch

It's a moment every viewer of The Crown has been dreading, and in the final season, it has arrived.

Netflix has released a trailer for Part 1 of the sixth and final season of the royal drama — which you can watch above — and it's almost entirely focused on Princess Diana's final days leading up to her tragic death in a Paris car crash in 1997. We see a harried Diana (played once again by Elizabeth Debicki) complaining that "the press are on our tails constantly" as she embarks on a courtship with Dodi Fayed, with a staffer informing Queen Elizabeth II that "interest in the princess' private life is unlikely to die down anytime soon."

Diana finds a few rare moments of joy with her sons William and Harry, but she's hounded by paparazzi everywhere she goes, whether in the city streets or on the high seas. She gets an invite from Dodi to go to Paris, and we see motorcycles whizzing around their car — and suddenly, phones are ringing in the dead of night. It's clear something terrible has happened, and Elizabeth asks: "What do people want from me?" Her son Prince Charles answers emphatically: "For you to be mother to the nation."

Part 1 of Season 6, which will consist of four episodes, premieres Thursday, Nov. 16 on the streamer. The final six episodes of the series will debut as Part 2 on Thursday, Dec. 14. Executive producer Suzanne Mackie has previously said that The Crown's producers approached the subject of Diana's death with "enormous sensitivity," noting that "the audience will judge it in the end, but I think it's been delicately, thoughtfully recreated."
