The Paper Trailer: Peacock's The Office Spinoff Follows A Failing Newspaper — and Brings Back Oscar!

The Office fans, it's happening (cue the Michael Scott GIF): We've got our first look at Peacock's new spinoff.

Peacock has released a trailer for The Paper, the much-anticipated offshoot of The Office premiering Thursday, Sept. 4 on the streamer. And in it, the documentary crew that followed Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch for nine seasons turns its cameras on a struggling Ohio newspaper, the Toledo Truth Teller. (Watch the full trailer below.)

The paper currently publishes hard-hitting news stories like "You Won't Believe How Much Ben Affleck Tipped His Limo Driver," but new editor-in-chief Ned Sampson (played by The Patient's Domhnall Gleeson) frankly admits that the newspaper "sucks" and wants to get it back to its journalistic roots. He tries to recruit new reporters from the staff, but their writing experience is limited to tweets and group chats. Ned is determined, though — he writes on a typewriter! — and soon, he has his ragtag crew on the ground sniffing out stories.

Oh, and the documentary crew also runs into an old friend: former Dunder Mifflin accountant Oscar, played once again by The Office's Oscar Nuñez. He's not happy to see them, though. "Not again!" he shouts when he sees the cameras. "I'm not agreeing to any of this!" (He even throws in a F-bomb so their footage of him is ruined.)

In addition to Gleeson and Nuñez, the cast includes Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Chelsea Frei (The Cleaning Lady), Melvin Gregg (Snowfall), Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of Their Own), Ramona Young (Never Have I Ever), Tim Key (The Witchfinder) and comedian Alex Edelman. Greg Daniels, who co-created the U.S. version of The Office, serves as co-creator and co-showrunner here along with Michael Koman (Nathan for You).
