The Drew Carey Show Character Played By Jamie Lee Curtis That You Likely Forgot

Jamie Lee Curtis became a star with the late 1970s and early '80s "Halloween" films, and "True Lies" was a hit in theaters in 1994. Curtis starred in the TV movie "The Heidi Chronicles" the following year, then made an unforgettable appearance on "The Drew Carey Show" in 1996. In Season 1, Episode 18, "Playing A Unified Field," she plays Sioux, a hairdresser who briefly dates Drew.

She's far wilder than Drew and his friends, and in their short time together, she bungee jumps from a water tower and almost starts a bar fight. Sioux and Drew end their three-date fling with a goodbye kiss on the water tower, and she later exchanges a hairstyling session with Mimi (Kathy Kinney) for a quick Polka dancing tutorial. Their fling was a bit of a rebound for Drew, who had just been dumped by his girlfriend Lisa (Katy Selverstone).

Sioux was a brief but memorable rebound for Drew

Lisa and Drew, who work together at Winfred-Louder, break up when he insists on keeping their relationship a secret. Drew's friends encourage him to date Sioux, and he steps out of character to match her chaotic energy. He cuts the relationship short and rekindles things with Lisa, but it quickly goes south, and she marries another man in Season 2.

Later in Season 2, Drew gets married during a drunken night in Las Vegas, but that sham union ends with a quick divorce. After another rocky stretch, he eventually finds lasting love with an old childhood friend, Kellie Newmark (Cynthia Watros), though Sioux is never heard from again.

Curtis has appeared in a mix of TV comedy roles since her brief turn as Sioux, including starring on the horror comedy series "Scream Queens" (2015-2016). She's also played Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) mom on "New Girl," made a guest appearance on "Reno 911!" in Season 8, and won her first Emmy in 2024 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for playing Donna Berzatto on "The Bear."
