FBI And CIA Reveal Premiere Crossovers With John Boyd And Necar Zadegan (Exclusive)

"FBI" and "CIA" are hitting the ground running this fall with a pair of crossover episodes debuting on premiere night. TVLine can exclusively reveal that John Boyd's Stuart Scola will cross over to the Season 2 opener of "CIA," while Necar Zadegan's Nikki Reynard will join forces with 26 Fed in the Season 9 premiere of "FBI."

Both Dick Wolf shows are set to premiere Monday, October 5 on CBS, with "FBI" leading the night at 8/7c, and "CIA" following at 9/8c.

In the "CIA" opener titled "The Deep," a known cartel fixer arrives in New York City, and as the team gets busy tracking him down, they discover the body of a dead DEA agent. "After it becomes clear the case is not what it seems, the team must work quickly to prevent additional murders. Meanwhile, Bill (Nick Gehlfuss) makes a shocking discovery when he returns to work after the death of his father, and the team enlists the help of FBI's Special Agent Stuart Scola (Boyd)," reads the episode's official description. (See more exclusive photos from both episodes below.)

It's revealed that Bill and Scola are old FBI buddies, and when the episode first begins, they're boxing at a gym following Bill's bereavement leave. But a good workout isn't the only thing Scola's going to assist with when "CIA" returns. 

"Later on in the episode when we need to hit a DEA target house, it's a great moment of CIA fusion cell/FBI collaboration where Bill calls his buddy Scola," teases showrunner and executive producer Mike Weiss. "They put together a SWAT team, and Bill and Scola go in shoulder-to-shoulder to this dangerous target, so we get to see Scola in bro-mode as well as in tactical mode." 

Adds Gehlfuss: "We see Bill in a totally different and new light. By the end of the episode, there's a bombshell that's dropped that shakes Bill up quite a bit as far as, 'Who the hell is he?'"

On "FBI," the team discovers that a young traveler found dead in a state park was witness to an execution of a person involved in a top-secret government sponsored project. Reads the logline for "Rendition": "Maggie struggles to bond with her new partner Isaiah Green ("Chicago Med" actor Roland Buck III), OA adjusts to a new role, and the CIA's Deputy Chief of Station Nikki Reynard (Necar Zadegan) lends a helping hand on the case."

According to Mike Weiss, Nikki is the perfect contact to tap when the "FBI" crew is "chasing bad guys who might have an international or intelligence or terror background to them." 

"Why not go and talk to an expert, Nikki Reynard, who has been chasing and tracking and dealing with these guys for her entire career overseas?" Weiss explains. "We call on Nikki a couple of times in the season to come in and lend her expertise when there's something weird or exotic or global going on in a part of the FBI investigation."

This will be Zadegan's second crossover appearance on "FBI" following Season 8's "3 Up, 3 Down;" John Boyd's guest-starring spot marks his first showing on the "CIA" spin-off.
