Before Lioness, Ian Bohen Played A Villain On A Hit Supernatural Drama

In "Lioness," Ian Bohen plays Grady, a U.S. Army Delta Force operator and K9 handler who shares a deep connection with his trusty canine companions. Rewind back 15 years, however, and Bohen played another character who led a pack of wild, canine-like creatures — the vicious, man-killing, supernatural kind.

MTV's "Teen Wolf" is very loosely based on the 1985 Michael J. Fox movie of the same name. The plot gets rolling when high schooler Scott (Tyler Posey) is attacked and bitten by an Alpha werewolf — in his human form, the vengeful Peter Hale (Bohen). Even though Scott and his pack ultimately defeats Hale at the end of the first season, he remained a fan-favorite, love-to-hate presence throughout the show's run, eventually evolving into a trusted ally of the heroes. 

Just a few years after "Teen Wolf" ended in 2017, Crooked Forest spoke with Bohen about his time on the series. He had nothing but high praise for "Teen Wolf" creator Jeff Davis, noting, "It's been wonderful to collaborate with Jeff throughout the course of the show. He loves actors and combining the voice of the character with that of the performer." 

Jeff Davis and Ian Bohen worked hard to ensure that Hale was more than just a standard, one-dimensional bad guy. "We started speaking each other's language, and Peter Hale became less of a one-note bad guy and grew more into a relatable person – who just happens to be sociopathic," Bohen added. At the time, he admitted he would miss the close-knit family feel of the cast and crew — which included castmates Dylan O'Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, and Holland Roden.

Six years later, he reprised the role in "Teen Wolf: The Movie," the 2023 Paramount+ reunion film centering on a terrifying entity known as the Nogitsune, which forces Scott to call on his allies to save Beacon Hills once more. In an interview with The Nerds of Color, Bohen said that he thoroughly enjoyed coming back to the "Teen Wolf" universe. Speaking about his character's entrance in the film, he said, "When the blowtorch happens, he's lighting a cigar and it lights his face, and he says, 'I've been known to light a spark or two in my time,' I was just like, 'Holy crap. We're right back where we left off, We haven't lost a beat,' and Jeff's voice for Peter is even more dialed in and dense."

Bohen also added that he loved the movie's script and couldn't wait to reunite with everybody. "When we got there, we just did it and the reunion was unbelievable," he told the outlet. "And to be honest, I really want to do another one."
