Save The Dates: Hugh Laurie's Apple TV Prison Drama, The Invite Hits Streaming, And More

Apple TV is putting Hugh Laurie behind bars early next year. 

The "House" star's new prison drama "The Wanted Man" will premiere Wednesday, January 6 on the streamer with the first two episodes, TVLine has learned. Episodes will air weekly after that through the February 17 finale. Apple TV has also released a number of first-look photos, one of which you can see above.

The eight-episode series stars Laurie as organized crime boss Felix Carmichael, who "is betrayed by someone inside his own firm and sent to the notorious Staplehurst Prison," according to the official synopsis. Once he's incarcerated, Felix is "forced to remember his own brutality to fight for survival. With his family, firm and fortune at stake, Felix resolves to do the unthinkable: escape." (Laurie's casting was first announced back in May 2025.)

George Kay ("Hijack," "Lupin") serves as writer, creator, and showrunner, with a supporting cast that includes Thandiwe Newton ("Westworld"), Fionn Whitehead ("Great Expectations"), Gina McKee ("Bodyguard"), Hazel Doupe ("Say Nothing"), Elliott Heffernan ("Blitz"), and Stephen Dillane ("Game of Thrones").

• The A24 film "The Invite" — starring Seth Rogen, Olivia Wilde, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton — will make its streaming debut Friday, October 23 on HBO Max, with a linear premiere on HBO on Saturday, October 24 at 8 p.m. The dramedy centers on married couple Joe and Angela, who "invite their enigmatic upstairs neighbors for a dinner party," and "the night spirals into unexpected places. Have they reignited the spark or lit the match that burns it all down?"
• The Bravo reality series "Below Deck" returns for Season 13 on Monday, October 12 at 8 p.m., with Captain Kerry Titheradge still at the helm. The show returns "to Phuket, Thailand for the first time since 2019 as charter guests and crew sail through the crystal-clear waters and experience the rich culture that makes Thailand a bucket-list destination."
• Bill Murray's golf documentary series "A Course Called Ireland" will premiere Sunday, October 25 on Paramount+. The six-part series follows Murray and author Tom Coyne as they "play their way across some of Ireland's most legendary golf courses."
• The Netflix family drama "Unaccustomed Earth," starring Freida Pinto and based on the acclaimed short story collection by Jhumpa Lahiri, will debut Thursday, December 17 on the streamer. The series centers on "a tight-knit Indian American community navigating love, longing, loss, and belonging."
