Boston Blue Bosses Tease Expanded 'Action Vocabulary' In Season 2 — Watch Danny And Lena Get Ambushed In Exclusive Sneak Peek
Danny Reagan and Lena Silver are about to find themselves in the line of fire.
In TVLine's exclusive sneak peek from the Friday, October 16 episode of "Boston Blue," titled "Ripple Effect" (CBS, 10/9c), Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) pursue a promising lead in the attempted murder of Detective Brian Rogers — an investigation that puts them on a collision course with a dangerous biker gang.
And while the clip stops short of the ensuing shootout, executive producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier tell TVLine that the action-packed sequence represents a significant step forward for the "Blue Bloods" spin-off.
Boston Blue Bosses Tease Bigger Action in Season 2
"That was a lot of fun, and big credit to Terence Paul Winter, who wrote the episode, and Sherwin Shilati, our producing director, who filmed an incredible sequence for us," Margolis tells TVLine in advance of Episode 2's big ambush scene. "We love that 'Boston Blue' is a family drama dressed up as a police procedural. But it's a Jerry Bruckheimer police procedural. So, if that involves cops kicking butt on a bridge, as we've seen in cinema before, so be it."
Margolis adds that the producers "had a blast letting our cast do their thing," and were "so proud of how that came out." And Sonnier says that the sequence is indicative of the show's ambitions in its sophomore season: "In Season 1 of a show, there's a lot of groundwork to be laid and characters to learn. As we move into Season 2, we are expanding our world, and we're also expanding our action vocabulary."
Elsewhere in "Ripple Effect," per CBS' official logline, "Mae faces renewed pressure from political rival Thad Longfellow, Sean and Jonah attempt to make amends after a misstep at work, and Baez is confronted with an unexpected family matter."
