Neagley Star Adeline Rudolph's Acting Debut Was On A Hit Comic Book Show
From the office to the field, Adeline Rudolph's Renee Birdwhistle has continually proven her worth as part of York Investigations on "Neagley," which was recently renewed for a Season 2 on Prime Video. Her research skills are valued as an administrative assistant, and her potential as a private investigator is on display when helping Frances Neagley (Maria Sten) with fieldwork. But the "Reacher" spin-off isn't Rudolph's first time playing an integral team member. Rudolph started her acting career as Agatha Night, a member of the Weird Sisters in Netflix's "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina."
The Weird Sisters are a trio of witches at the Academy of Unseen Arts. The group is known in the streaming series as antagonists to the titular Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka). Along with her fellow Weird Sisters, Dorcas (Abigail Cowen) and Prudence (Tati Gabrielle), Agatha is an orphan who grew up at the school.
"Agatha, in my opinion, is probably the most purely evil of the three," Rudolph said of her "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" character in a Gizmodo interview. "She genuinely just enjoys torturing Sabrina and mortal boys, and a lot of her actions don't necessarily have a certain... she just likes to torture, there's not necessarily a reason for it."
Rudolph has played two roles in the Archieverse
Split into four parts, "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" ran from 2018-2020. Despite being a streaming series on Netflix, the show is set in the same Archieverse as The CW's "Riverdale." Both series, which are Archie Comics adaptations created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, also feature Adeline Rudolph. The "Neagley" star moved to the next town over and appeared in Season 5 of "Riverdale" as recurring character Minerva Marble in 2021.
An original character with no comics history, Minerva joins the "Riverdale" story following an in-universe time jump as an art appraiser who has a romance with Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). There has been no indication that Agatha and Minerva are connected, even though they're played by the same actress in a shared universe. Rudolph, however, does have a twin sister, Caroline, in real life. A "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and "Riverdale" crossover happens, though, when Kiernan Shipka's Sabrina cameos in "Riverdale" Season 6.
Rudolph's time in the Archieverse isn't her only experience with horror and live-action adaptations. After "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" and "Riverdale," the actress stayed in the Netflix family when she starred in the "Resident Evil" series, which was inspired by the video game. She was also in the comic book movie "Hellboy: The Crooked Man."
