Law & Order: SVU's Stephanie March To Return In Season 28
Guess who's back/back again/Cabot's back/tell Benson.
"Law & Order: SVU" alum Stephanie March once more will reprise the role of Alexandra Cabot in an upcoming Season 28 episode, TVLine has learned.
March will appear in the current season's ninth episode. She originally exited the show in Season 5, when her character — then-Assistant District Attorney Alexandra Cabot — was targeted by a drug cartel she was attempting to prosecute.
When the cartel put out what looked like a successful hit on Cabot, everyone thought she'd died. But at the end of the episode, Det. Olivia Benson (played by Mariska Hargitay) and Det. Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni) learned that Cabot's death had been faked so she could enter the Witness Protection Program.
Stephanie March isn't the only former SVU star to return this season
Alexandra Cabot later returned to testify against her attempted murderer, and eventually came back as the ADA assigned to the Special Victims Unit. After she retired from that post, she took on work with a group that helped abused women build lives away from their abusers.
March's last appearance as Cabot took place in Season 19, Episode 19. (She also played the character in the short-lived "SVU" spin-off "Conviction.") Her other TV work includes "Early Edition," "30 Rock," "Grey's Anatomy," "Rescue Me," "Naomi," and "Harlan Coben's Shelter."
A few episodes before March's Season 28 debut, Chris Meloni will bring his "SVU"/"Law & Order: Organized Crime" character Stabler back to "SVU" for the show's milestone 600th episode.
"Law & Order: SVU" airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC and streams the next day on Peacock.
OK, "SVU" fans, we want to hear you: Are you looking forward to Cabot's return? Is anyone out there still holding out a slim hope that #Cabenson will happen? Hit the comments, and let us know!
