Scoop: CSI Stages Cheers Reunion, Casts Peri Gilpin As Ted Danson's TV Wife

Ted Danson's CSI and Cheers worlds are about to collide.

The long-running CBS procedural has tapped Frasier alumna Peri Gilpin to join the cast as the wife of Danson's D.B. Russell.

Gilpin and Danson have appeared onscreen together twice before, first when the former played reporter Holly Matheson during Cheers' final season, and a decade later when the latter's Sam Malone paid Kelsey Grammer's Frasier a visit on the Cheers spinoff.

Gilpin's CSI character, Allison — who will first appear in the May 9 finale and then return next season for multiple episodes — is "the intellectual equal of her brilliant husband, the one woman who doesn't just rule his heart, but rules his life."
