Exiting Doctor Who Star Ncuti Gatwa Cheers His Companions, 'Captain Poppy' And Two 'Legends' From Finale

In the wake of the Doctor Who season finale that revealed the end of his time aboard the TARDIS, Ncuti Gatwa has been busy paying tribute to those he worked with over two seasons of the Disney+/BBC Studios series.

In a series of Instagram Story posts, Gatwa celebrated Millie Gibson (who played Ruby Sunday) and Varada Sethu (Belinda Chandra) as the "queens of the sky"; deemed it a "joy and HONOUR" to work with the "legendary Jodie Whittaker" (who in the finale appeared as Thirteen to his Fifteen); hailed a "truly special" crew that made things "look like magic"; and gave props to franchise "Legend" and "Icon" Billie Piper, who showed up at the end of the Doctor's latest regeneration as...???

BBC Studios meanwhile shared a BTS video from Gatwa's series wrap (seen below), in which he speaks to crew and cast about his time aboard the TARDIS.

In a separate Instagram post, Gatwa drilled down on his feelings for Gibson and Sethu, saying that their time together was "an experience like no other and thank God we were by each others' side.

"There aren't quite the words for how much you both mean to me but I am so grateful I got the opportunity to work, learn from and laugh with you both everyday," he continued. "You're both just simply incredible and it has been nothing short of a blessing to share this journey with both of you. Ruby Sunday and Belinda Chandra will live in mine and the Whoniverse hearts forever."

Gatwa gave added a "shout out to the CAPTAIN of all 15's companions. Captain Poppy" — as in Sienna-Robyn Mavanga-Phipps, the child actress who first appeared in last season's "Space Babies" and returned for the two-part finale as Fifteen and Belinda's "impossible" daughter. "Lil Sienna brought so much life and magic to us all on set."
