General Hospital's Eden McCoy Sets Return As Joss

Eden McCoy's General Hospital sabbatical is coming to an end. TVLine has learned that the actress — who stepped away from her role of Joss for six weeks, leading the soap to recast her with Courtney Fulk — will return to the ABC soap on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Fulk has been portraying Carly and Jax's daughter since mid-December. Although no official reason was given for the McCoy's leave of absence, the Joss switcheroo came shortly after McCoy shared the news of her mother's death on social media.

A GH rep declined to comment on the length of McCoy's absence, but multiple sources confirmed to TVLine in December that the newly-minted Daytime Emmy winner would return to work after the holidays and be back on air in early February.

In the aforementioned Nov. 6 Instagram tribute, McCoy wrote, "My mother has fought an intense battle with cancer for the past two and a half years and has now left us physically. I'm not sure what to say other than she was, is, and will be the best thing I have ever known. She is responsible for every good part of me, and she took me with her when she left.

"If there is anything I can say to whoever is reading, it would be that absolutely nothing is promised," she added. "We really aren't owed anything. Your life really can change in just a moment, so as my mom would say, do everything as if it your last time doing it."

McCoy was in attendance at Friday's Daytime Emmy ceremony when she won her first gold statue for portraying Joss. In a subsequent Instagram post, she dedicated the trophy to her late mother.

Days later, McCoy took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to wish fans, "Happy holidays," after which she acknowledged, "Been a strange year, but I still feel very lucky. Wishing everyone reading this love and health."
