Firefly Reunion On Resident Alien As Jewel Staite Joins Season 4 Cast

This news is doubly out-of-this-world.

Jewel Staite has boarded Resident Alien Season 4, all but guaranteeing us even a fleeting reunion with fellow Firefly alum Alan Tudyk. (On Fox's gone-too-soon space Western, Tudyk played pilot Hoban "Wash" Washburne to Staite's mechanic Kaywinnet Lee "Kaylee" Frye.)

TVLine can also confirm that Resident Alien Season 4 will be simulcast on both USA Network and Syfy, though a premiere date has not yet been set.

Based on the Dark Horse comics, Resident Alien follows a crash-landed alien named Harry (Tudyk) whose original, secret mission was to kill all humans. In Season 3, Harry vowed to work with General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) to rid the Earth of the Grey aliens — a task made more difficult when he discovered that the Grey Hybrid Joseph (Enver Gjokaj) had taken a job in town as the new deputy.

Season 4 starts with Harry and his baby Bridget stuck in prison on the Grey Moonbase, while a shape-shifting alien called a Mantid (also Tudyk) has taken over his body on Earth passing himself off as the real Harry Vanderspeigle. Harry manages to escape the Greys and arrives back on Earth for a showdown with the Mantid, but finds he may not have what he needs to finish the job. Meanwhile, Asta Sara Tomko) and D'Arcy (Alice Wetterlund) struggle to keep a secret from Ben (Levi Fiehler) and Kate (Meredith Garettson), who are both desperate to find answers to what has been happening to them, and Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) attempt to solve some mysterious deaths in Patience that the former comes to think aren't caused by anything human.

Speaking of said deaths.... As reported by sister site Deadline, Staite will recur during Season 4 as Jules Gardner, an FBI agent who went to high school with Asta, Liv , D'Arcy and Ben. Agent Gardner comes to town to investigate the series of murders that have occurred in and around Patience.

In addition to her run on Firefly (and the follow-up movie Serenity), Staite's credits include Family Law, The Magicians, The Killing and Stargate: Atlantis.
