Casting News: Friday The 13th Prequel Casts Young Jason, An SVU Promotion And More
Young Sheldon had his time in the limelight. Now it's time to make way for... Young Jason.
Callum Vinson (Chucky, Long Bright River) has been cast as pint-sized Jason Voorhees in Peacock's Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake, Deadline reports. He joins Linda Cardellini (Dead to Me), who was previously tapped to play Jason's mother Pamela.
Crystal Lake was ordered to series back in October 2022. It is billed as an "expanded prequel" to the long-running horror film franchise, with the hockey mask-wearing killer at its center.
Brad Caleb Kane (It: Welcome to Derry) serves as creator, writer and executive producer.
In other casting news...
* NBC's Law & Order: SVU has promoted Aimé Donna Kelly (aka Captain Curry) to series regular ahead of Season 27, Deadline reports.
* Freida Pinto will star as Parul Chaudhury in Netflix's Unaccustomed Earth, an "epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant drama" from executive producer John Wells (The Pitt) inspired by the Jhumpa Lahiri short story collection of the same name.
* Poorna Jagannathan (Deli Boys) and Gary Carr (The Peripheral) have been cast in Apple TV+'s as-yet-untitled crime drama based on Lars Kepler's Joona Linna books, Deadline reports. They join an ensemble that already includes Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz, Stephen Graham, Bill Camp, Rory Culkin and Chrissy Metz.
