General Hospital Recasts Michael: Former Y&R Actor Rory Gibson Replaces Chad Duell
General Hospital will soon have viewers asking, "Michael Corinthos, is that really you?" Friday's episode (ABC, 3/2c) officially welcomes back one of Port Charles' most beloved residents, only he looks a little different than when we last saw him in January.
The character, previously portrayed by Chad Duell, is now being played by former Young and the Restless actor Rory Gibson, TVLine has confirmed. And what better occasion to fly back into town than General Hospital's annual Nurses' Ball?

When we last saw Michael on Jan. 21, 2025, he was badly burned from an explosion at Sonny's (Maurice Benard) penthouse. Though barely conscious, he decided that he wanted to be treated for his burns at a clinic in Germany, at which point he was immediately flown to Europe.
And there's plenty of drama awaiting Michael upon his return to Port Charles. Let's not forget that Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) is currently pregnant with their child, following a one-night stand with Michael, who had just learned that his wife Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) was intimate with his uncle Drew (Cameron Mathison).
Though Gibson wasn't formally revealed as Duell's replacement until May 22, we got our first hint at his return on May 20, when an unidentified man on a jet was seen watching footage of the Nurses' Ball red carpet on a tablet.
Duell announced his departure in November 2024, sharing the news in an emotional social media post: "After many incredible years with General Hospital, I've decided to step away from the show," Duell wrote at the time. "This wasn't an easy decision for me, but it feels like the right time in my life. I'm beyond grateful to [executive producer] Frank Valentini, the cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes who have been like family to me throughout this amazing journey."
