How I Met Your Mother Stars Reunite On Shrinking — See Photos
One of the precious few on-screen How I Met Your Mother reunions since the CBS hitcom faded to black in 2014 takes place this coming Wednesday on Apple TV's Shrinking, when Cobie Smulders shares a scene with Jason Segel's Jimmy.

In the acclaimed comedy's 10th episode of Season 2, titled "Changing Patterns," Jimmy tries to give his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell) the perfect 18th birthday. Elsewhere, Paul (Harrison Ford) helps Gaby (Jessica Williams) with a huge decision.
Regarding that first story point, Jimmy is out to buy Alice a (used) car, which leads him to the doorstep of Smulders' Sophie, a single mom with a yellow Volkswagen listed for $5,000. Press play above to learn the outcome of their negotiation.
In the 10-1/2 years since How I Met Your Mother signed off after a nine-season run, on-camera reunions for the series regulars have been sparse, to say the least.
Smulders recurred on Neil Patrick Harris' A Series of Unfortunate Events (on Netflix), though it doesn't appear as if they shared any scenes. Similarly, Smulders and NPH both reprised their HIMYM roles on the Hulu offshoot How I Met Your Father, but in separate episodes.
When it was announced in September 2023 that Alyson Hannigan would be competing on Season 32 of Dancing With the Stars, Smulders was among the first to voice their excitement (on Hannigan's Instagram post). One of Hannigan's DWTS routines would incorporate a yellow umbrella not unlike the one that once belonged to Cristin Milioti's Tracy McConnell, on HIMYM.
Smulders very recently starred in an episode of Fox's Accused crime anthology, and before that reprised her MCU role of Maria Hill in Disney+'s Secret Invasion and played mom to (a semi-fictionalized) Tegan & Sara in Freevee's one-and-done High School.
