Casting News: Jack Lowden Leads Berlin Noir Series, Matthew Rhys Is Invincible And More

Jack Lowden (Slow Horses) has landed the lead role of Bernie Gunther in Apple TV+'s adaptation of Philip Kerr's bestselling Berlin Noir novels.

The TV series begins with Metropolis and Bernie's origin story as a police officer circa 1928, newly promoted to the elite Berlin Murder Squad, where he investigates what seems to be a serial killer targeting victims on the fringes of society.

In other casting news...

* Invincible has enlisted Matthew Rhys (The Americans) to voice an undisclosed character in Season 4, premiering in 2026. What's more, the adult-animated superhero series has already been renewed for Season 5.

* Season 3 of Netflix's XO, Kitty has wrapped filming, with Sule Thelwell (Saint X) added in the series-regular role of Marius, and Soy Kim (Oneuldo Jisonghabnida) and Christine Hwang recurring as Yisoo and Gigi, respectively. Additionally, Hojo Shin (aka Jiwon) has been elevated to series regular.

* Kevin Rankin (Claws), Adelaide Clemens (Rectify) and Bevin Bru (Batwoman) have been cast opposite Scott Speedman and Weruche Opia (I May Destroy You) in ABC's RJ Decker pilot, Deadline reports.

* In Wonder Man, Disney+'s next live-action Marvel series, Arian Moayed (Succession) will reprise his MCU role as Agent Cleary from the Department of Damage Control, Deadline reports. He previously played Cleary in the 2021 film Spider-Man: No Way Home and in TV's Ms. Marvel.

* Every Year After, Prime Video's forthcoming series adaptation of Carley Fortune's romantic novel, has cast Sadie Soverall (Saltburn) as Percy, Matt Cornett (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Sam, Aurora Perrineau (KAOS) as Chantal, Abigail Cowen (Fate: The Winx Saga) as Delilah, Michael Bradway (Chicago Fire) as Charlie, and Joseph Chiu (Motorheads) as Jordie.

* Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy will be a regular contributor to Fox Sports' Big Noon Kickoff college gameday coverage this fall. Other Barstool personalities will also appear on the broadcast, as part of the network's new, "wide-ranging collaboration" with the sports/pop culture company.
